Zico says defence was solid, players say Omanis performed better

BEIJING: Japan coach Zico was at odds with his players following their 1-0 victory over Oman in their opening match at the Asian Cup.

Oman dominated the second half on Tuesday as the Gulf side sought to cancel out Shunsuke Nakamura's 34th-minute goal and Japan, the defending Asian Cup champions, were lucky to escape with the win after Oman missed three gilt-edged chances in the last 10 minutes.
