Dutch make a point

PORTO: For 80 minutes, Germany looked and played like the World Cup runners-up. Then Ruud van Nistelrooy produced a magic touch to rescue Holland and earn his team a 1-1 draw with their archrivals in their opening Euro 2004 Group D match on Tuesday.

With nine minutes left, Andy van der Meyde won the ball near the right corner and sent a perfect cross into the box, where Van Nistelrooy, with his back to goal, connected with his right foot to put the ball behind Germany goalkeeper Oliver Kahn.
