KUALA LUMPUR: The Olympic Day Run will be held throughout the country from next year in a bid to promote a healthy lifestyle culture among Malaysians.
The Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) president Tan Sri Tunku Imran Tuanku Jaafar said the Run had previously been held in certain states only.
OCM will make it a grand event with the help of the official sponsor of the Olympic Games, McDonalds Malaysia (McDonalds), he said after launching the Olympic Day Run here yesterday.
The Run was first held in Malaysia in 1987 to commemorate the birth of the International Olympic Council (IOC) by the founder of modern Olympics, Baron Pierre de Coubertin in Paris on June 23, 1894.
Last year, 3,000 participants took part in the Run that was held in Sabah.
This year, the 7km run will be held on June 27 at Dataran Merdeka here from 7.30am.
Registration forms can be obtained at McDonalds restaurants in the Klang Valley. Entry forms together with fees of RM10 for adults and RM5 for children must reach the OCM office at Jalan Hang Jebat, here before June 25. Bernama
