Valeron stays cool despite clamourings for his inclusion

FARO: Deportivo La Coruna midfielder Juan Carlos Valeron underlined why the Spanish public demands his inclusion in the national team by coming off the bench to score the only goal of the game against Russia here on Saturday.

Just 36 seconds after coming on as a substitute, Valeron struck to the delight of his devoted fans as Spain put one foot in the last eight of Euro 2004. With the side struggling to penetrate a determined Russian defence their vocal supporters called for Valeron and coach Inaki Saez obliged on the hour mark.
