Hong Kong legal bookmaker struggle against illegal ones


HONG KONG: Hong Kong's only legal bookmaker says it will struggle to compete with unauthorised bookies during the Euro 2004 football tournament because of the time difference between host nation Portugal and the Chinese territory, a newspaper reported yesterday. 

“Our major disadvantage is with the timing of the matches because most of the games are being played in the early hours Hong Kong time,” a spokesman for the Hong Kong Jockey Club told the South China Morning Post
