Rugby star seeks protection from stalking sisters

SYDNEY: Australian Andrew Johns, widely considered the world's top rugby league player, has sought court protection from two women accused of stalking him and his girlfriend, media reports said yesterday.

The women, two sisters, allegedly inundated Johns and his partner Catherine Mahoney with more than 50 threatening and abusive phone calls over a 10-day period in May, The Daily Telegraph reported.

According to court and police documents obtained by the newspaper, the sisters said they were watching Mahoney and called her a “slut” and a “prostitute”.

Johns and Mahoney have applied for a court injunction barring the sisters from approaching them, it said.

Police tracked down the sisters by putting a trace on Mahoney's phone, the newspaper said. – AFP
