KARACHI: Arch-rivals Pakistan and India have agreed to play a home-and-away series of eight hockey internationals this year.
The matches, following the recent cricket series between the two countries, will be held in September and October.
The details of the series would be finalised during my visit to India to meet with Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) officials, Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) secretary Brigadier Musarratullah said on Friday.
It will be the first time since 1999 that the teams have played each other home and away.
The series will give relations between the two countries a big boost like the cricket series did. It should also lift the profile of the sport in the sub-continent and internationally, Musarratullah said.
The matches are likely to be held in Karachi, Lahore, Quetta and Peshawar in Pakistan and New Delhi, Hyderabad, Bombay and Chennai in India. Reuters
