PETALING JAYA: The next two months will be tough for Elaine Teo, Malaysia's sole taekwondo representative in the Athens Olympic Games from August 13-29 as she goes into the final stage of preparations.

Elaine leaves for Austria next Wednesday for one week of training and to compete in the Austrian Open from June 10 to 15.

National coach K. Dhanaraj said: “She will be competing in the Under 51kg category. That's the lowest weight category in the competition.”

After Austria, Elaine leaves for South Korea for five weeks from June 21.

“The main intention is to compete in the South Korea Open on July 15. We will also be travelling to the universities in Seoul for training as well as competition matches.

“The five weeks in South Korea will place more emphasis on the mental aspects to help her handle the extreme pressures of competing at the highest level,” said Dhanaraj, who has been training Elaine for the last six years.

Elaine qualified for the Athens Olympics when she won the silver medal in the Asian Championships in Bangkok in February.

Meanwhile, Astro announced on Thursday a sponsorship deal with the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) as the official sponsor of the Malaysian team to the 2004 and 2008 Olympics Games.

Under this deal, Astro will also be the official sponsor of the Malaysian team to the SEA Games 2005 and 2006 Asian Games.

Astro will also be providing 850 hours of live and delayed telecasts of the Olympic Games.
