Malaysia up against Iran in semi-finals of Asia Pacific qualifiers


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia will play Iran in the semi-finals of the Asia Pacific football qualifying rounds for the Deaf-lympics at the PKNS ground in Kelana Jaya today (4pm). 

The Malaysian team under former Selangor coach Ismail Zakaria qualified to the last four after they finished runner-up in Group B with a win and a defeat. They lost to Saudi Arabia 1-4 in the opening game but bounced back to edge Uzbekistan 1-0 on Monday. 

In the second semi-final, Saudi Arabia, who beat Uzbekistan (3-2) will play Group A runner-up Japan at the University Malaya ground (4pm). 

A total of seven teams are competing in the qualifying rounds. The top three will advance to the Finals in Melbourne, Australia in January next year.
