BERLIN: German tennis star Tommy Haas admitted a timely phone call saved his life after a fire engulfed his luxury Rome hotel ahead of the Italian Open which began yesterday.
Haas, 26, was asleep in his fifth floor room at the Parco dei Principi Hotel unaware that a fire was spreading two floors below him, eventually claiming the lives of three people.
