LONDON: The ex-wife of former England football captain Tony Adams has been arrested after the body of a woman was found in her car, British police said on Wednesday.
Jane Shea and an unnamed man who was also in the car at the time were arrested on suspicion of possible murder on Monday and later released on bail, London's Metropolitan Police said.
Shea's car was stopped by police in west London on Monday night, and officers noticed a woman slumped inside the vehicle, who was found to be dead.
A post mortem failed to uncover how she had died and more tests were being done, police said.
“Inquiries into the incident continue,” a spokeswoman said.
Shea, 38, was married to Adams for five years, the pair having two children. However the union was buffeted by Adams's alcoholism, which culminated in a jail sentence for drunk-driving, and they split in 1997.
Adams, a defender who played for Arsenal for almost 20 years, retired in 2002 and is now manager of Second Division side Wycombe Wanderers.
