KUALA LUMPUR: Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Azalina Othman is considering pooling all sports sponsorship to solve the problems faced by the poorer sports associations.

In her first dialogue between officials from national sports associations and the minister, all officials from minor sports complained that funding was hard to come by.

Sports officials from silamban, snooker and softball were among those who felt money was a problem.

“There were many issues brought up during the dialogue. Some solutions were also brought up.

“Among the issues raised was sponsorship. I am seriously considering looking into creating a sponsorship pool,” said Azalina.

Azalina said she would designate Tuesdays as “Hari Pelanggan” or Open Day for sports associations to come to the Ministry to discuss their problems or activities.

She also intends to create a more friendly environment at the Ministry.

“A change of clothes will be good. We are wearing very conservative clothing at work now.

“We should be wearing something different to create a more friendly environment,” said Azalina.
