JOHOR BARU: Eight cars two Chevrolets, a Honda Accord, a Perdana, a Waja, a Kelisa, a Kembara, and a Kia, worth nearly RM1 million, will be up for grabs for a hole-in-one in the 3rd Johor Charity Golf Championships which will be held at the Royal Johor Country Club (RJCC) on April 17 in conjunction with the Sultan of Johor's birthday next month.
Speaking at a press conference, RJCC captain Datuk Sheikh Abdul Hardy Ahmad said the lucrative prizes at stake are for the par-three holes three, seven, 13 and 16.
Each hole will have two cars as a prize. We expect some 240 golfers to participate in the event to raise RM250,000 for charity, said Sheikh Hardy.
It is golf for charity but it will also be a rich outing for those who want to do a bit of charity. A golfer will walk away with not one but two cars if he achieves an ace on the designated holes.
The major sponsors for the Charity golf are Pan West, Majestic Golf and the Tourism Development Corporation.
The Johor Charity golf tournament is into its third year. It raised RM200,000 in its first year in 2002 and RM250,00 last year. The entrance fee for the Charity Golf is RM350 per golfer.
The money raised from the tournament will be disbursed to charitable organisations in the state.
