Roslin starts off with straight-game victory

BIRMINGHAM: Malaysian singles players made good impressions with quick straight-game wins on the opening day of the All-England badminton championships at the National Indoor Arena here yesterday.

Veteran Roslin Hashim, who failed to get past the semi-finals in three previous attempts, gave indication that he may break the jinx when he took only 39 minutes to send Yuichi Ikeda of Japan packing, winning 15-3, 15-13.
