HANOI: Twenty-five people were arrested in Vietnam for participating in an illegal football gambling syndicate, police said yesterday, ahead of a mass campaign to stamp out the phenomenon.
The arrests were made after a raid on a hotel in the provincial capital of central Quang Ngai province early on Sunday, during which they were caught watching and betting on English FA Cup matches.
