JOHOR BARU: Influential midfielders Gilbert Cassidy Gawing and Ramos Sari were not on the plane when Sarawak left for Alor Star yesterday.
Ramos is down with a hamstring injury while Gilbert is kayoed by fever.
There were also more woes for the Crocs for their Super League match against Kedah tonight. The International Transfer Certificate (ITC) for their latest foreign signing Kim Grant has not arrived.
However, the English striker travelled with the team to Alor Star in the hope that his ITC from his Portuguese club Imortal Desportivo will come through.
Both teams go into tonights match looking for their first win in the Super League.
Despite the setbacks, Sarawak coach Trevor Morgan is adopting a positive outlook.
It gives me no chance to field my best. But for me, when one door closes, another opens, Morgan said from Kuching before leaving with the team for Alor Star.
We just have to get on with it. It also gives me the opportunity to throw others into the fray. We have to be strong. It is not going to be easy against Kedah, who are desperate for a win after losing their first two matches.
Kedah lost 3-4 to club side Selangor Public Bank in the first match. In the second match, the Canaries were beaten 2-3 by Penang. Sarawak are also winless after two matches but have a point to show from their 1-1 draw against Perlis. The Crocs lost 1-3 to Sabah in their opening Super League tie.
Team administrator Abdillah Mail said Sarawak had asked Grant to sort out his problem with his Portuguese club Desportivo, who are not willing to release his ITC as he has yet to complete his one-season stint with the club.
The Portuguese season ends in June. We understand that Desportivo want Kim to complete his stint with them before he theyll release his ITC. We have asked Kim to personally resolve the matter.
We have already registered the player with the FAM after he passed his medical and Coopers Test. He will be take to the field against Kedah if his ITC arrives in time, said Abdillah.
Sarawak have three other foreign players - strikers Robert Eshun (Ghana), Fernando Manuel Co (Portugal) and defender Rodrigo Anderson Silva (Brazil). Eshun is in his second year with the Crocs while Co and Silva made their debut against Perlis.
