KUALA LUMPUR: Aparna Popat won a point for India in an Uber Cup Asian Zone qualifying tie against Japan yesterday. And that should worry the Malaysians.
The 26-year-old Aparna defeated world number 14 Miho Tanaka 11-8, 7-11, 11-2 in the first singles. But India went on to lose the Group A tie 2-3 with the third singles player, Trupti Murgunde delivering the other point by beating the Japanese reserve, Yu Hirayama, 4-11, 11-4, 13-10.
