A party to start the Super League, but will the joy last?

PETALING JAYA: The inaugural Super League kicks off tonight in a grand and colourful fashion, hoping to mark a new era in Malaysian football, one that will see a rise in the standards of the local game.

When local giants Pahang and Perak take on each other at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil, it will be more than a football game. There will be a party to start with. The police band will be in attendance, parachutists will fly in the flags of the eights team in the league, there will be plenty of music and pyrotechnics and lucky draws and plenty of gifts.
