World No. 1 begins quest to defend Buick title

LA JOLLA (California): Tiger Woods made his return to the US PGA Tour here yesterday, trying to defend his title at the US$4.8mil Buick Invitational and fight off a host of challengers for his top ranking.

Woods concluded his break from the game by watching Stanford University's last-second victory over rival Arizona last Saturday from a front-row seat. Woods held himself back from joining in a raucous celebration.
