Irish race horse tycoons raise stakes in Man United


DUBLIN: Irish horse racing tycoons John Magnier and J.P. McManus raised their stake in Manchester United on Wednesday, rekindling takeover talk and strengthening their hand in a personal row with club manager Alex Ferguson. 

The Irish duo’s investment vehicle Cubic bought eight million United shares from Dutch media tycoon John de Mol to take their total holding to 28.89% from 25.49%.
