LISBON: Euro 2004 souvenirs, from the traditional pins and t-shirts to china sets and womens watches, will hit stores across Europe and Asia in March, tournament organisers said on Tuesday.
European footballs governing body UEFA have teamed up with US entertainment giant Warner Bros to produce roughly 3,000 different officially licensed products related to the three-week Finals from June 12.
UEFA said the goal was to create merchandise that would appeal to more than just die-hard football fans.
These products are not limited to just images of the logo or the mascot, Warner Bros sales director Bernardo de Carvalho said. We have developed six lines of products to reach the greatest number of people, from young fans to women.
Roughly 70% of the items are clothing-related, he added.
One of the more unique souvenirs is an eight euro coin, which is 50% silver, that has been minted especially for the event.
Prices range from as little as two euros for a key chain to more than 100 euros for a Euro 2004 porcelain plate. AFP
