SCOTTSDALE (Arizona): American Scott Verplank fired an 8-under-par 63 to take a one-shot lead over American Phil Mickelson after the opening round of the US$5.2mil PGA Tour's Scottsdale stop.
“I can't remember the last time I was chipping ice off the bottom of my shoes where we were actually counting our score,” Verplank said.
