Lemerre seeks to put opening day blues behind him

TUNIS: Former French coach Roger Lemerre is seeking to put the ghost of defeat in the opening match of the last World Cup Finals behind him when Tunisia open the African Nations Cup Finals today.

Lemerre was coach of world champions France when they lost 1-0 to Senegal in the opening match of the 2002 World Cup, going on to ignominiously exit the tournament in the first round, without scoring a goal, in South Korea and Japan.
