BANGKOK: National champion Lee Chong Wei’s bid to win his first Open title ended miserably yesterday.
The 22-year-old Chong Wei, who was determined to give his family something to cheer during the Chinese New Year, went down 15-17, 10-15 to top seed Ng Wei of Hong Kong in the quarter-finals of the Thailand Open at the National Stadium here yesterday.
