LONDON: Former greats St Etienne caused the upset of the French League Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday when the Second Division club beat First Division favourites Nice 2-0.
Auxerre also booked their place in the semi-finals with Bonaventure Kalou’s 86th minute strike in a 1-0 win over Second Division Gueugnon, while Nantes beat Le Mans 5-4 on penalties after their match had finished at 1-1.
