FIFA loophole earns Sakho a call-up

DAKAR: Leeds United’s on-loan former French Under-21 international midfielder Lamine Sakho was a surprise inclusion in 2002 African Nations Cup finalists Senegal’s squad for this month’s renewal on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old benefits – like fellow Premiership player Mali’s Freddie Kanoute and Mohammed Sissoko of Valencia – from FIFA’s regulation stating that anyone with dual nationality can switch sides providing they have not appeared for the senior national team.
