Thai Thongchai moves up to 154th after victory

PETALING JAYA: Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee has moved 110 places up on the official world golf rankings to 154th following his victory in the Volvo Masters of Asia, the season-ending event on the Asian PGA Tour, on Sunday.  

In the flagship event on the Asian PGA Tour, Thongchai secured his fourth Asian PGA Tour victory, firing a final-round 65 to win at the Bangkok Golf Club.  

His one-stroke victory over Taiwan’s Lin Keng-chi lifts him to fourth place on the Asian regional rankings. Newly-crowned Asian Players’ Player of the Year Arjun Atwal won the Asian PGA Tour Order of Merit with US$284,018 but remains outside the world top-200 at number 232.  

The top 10 Asian players on the official world golf rankings are: 1. Choi Kyung-ju (Kor) 18; 2. Jyoti Randhawa (Ind) 140; 3. Hur Suk-ho (Kor) 147; 4. Thongchai Jaidee (Tha) 154; 5. Zhang Lian-wei (Chi) 158; 6. Kim Jong-duck (Kor) 164; 7. Prayad Marksaeng (Tha) 187; 8. Yeh Wei-tze (Tpe) 220; 9. Arjun Atwal (Ind) 232; 10. Lin Keng-chi (Tpe) 263.
