MALAYSIAN teams in subjective sports, including gymnastics, have been told not to question the judging in these events.
Sports Minister Datuk Hishammuddin Hussein made the call after visiting the Malaysian gymnasts at the Combination Sports Palace in Hanoi yesterday.
He was commenting on Malaysia’s unhappiness over the judging in the men’s artistic team event on Thursday. The Malaysians failed in their defence of the title and were pipped to the gold medal by Thailand.
“We should not be distracted by the judging. I am sure that if we give top-class performances, there is no way the judges can fault us,” said Hishammuddin.
“I want all teams competing in subjective sports to fully concentrate on giving their best. Don’t worry about the judging ... you will get the marks if you do well.
“There are bound to be some unhappiness and problems along the way. Let’s all help Vietnam to make the Games a major success.”
