JOHANNESBURG: Springbok wing Ashwin Willemse was named as South Africa’s Player of The Year at a gala dinner in Johannesburg on Friday.
The 22-year-old – who admits that God and rugby saved him from a life of gangsterism in Cape Town’s notorious Cape Coloured townships – completed an unprecedented clean sweep when he was also named as Young Player of The Year and Players’ Player of The Year.
