LONDON: Englands World Cup winners have revealed the secret of their triumph Down Under tasty food that keeps them at the peak of fitness.
Jonny Wilkinsons dropped goal may have won the Cup but it was the teams all-round fitness that carried them through the six week campaign and 20 minutes of extra-time against the Australian Wallabies in Sydney last Saturday.
Now the England players have collaborated on a book for charity that includes their favourite recipes.
Inside each England player is a real person, its just that he needs significantly more food than the rest of us, says cook and catering expert Anne Menzies in her introduction to Eating for England.
Hours spent in the gym and on the training field are only part of the success story. The work starts in the kitchen where a diet of nutrient-rich foods that are low in saturated fat are cooked. The book reveals that England captain Martin Johnson likes nothing better than a warm salad of poached egg on smoked haddock while Wilkinson likes to start the day with a drink of creamy fruit, oats and yogurt.
