LONDON: First division leaders West Bromwich Albion were held 0-0 at home by Reading on Saturday but retained top spot after four of their chief promotion rivals also failed to win.
Sheffield United, Norwich City, Wigan Athletic and Sunderland were unable to take advantage, leaving West Brom a point clear at the top on 36 points.
