Seeds make losing starts in Europe

BASEL: Briton Tim Henman put seventh-seeded Dutchman Martin Verkerk out of the Swiss Indoors on Tuesday with a comfortable 6-2, 6-3 victory.

Unseeded Henman, on the road to recovery after a shoulder injury, broke twice in the first set to lead 4-0 before French Open finalist Verkerk got going.
