LOS ANGELES: Germany hoisted the Womens World Cup football trophy for the first time when they defeated Sweden 2-1 here on Sunday in the final, thanks to Nia Kuenzers golden goal eight minutes into extra time.
Kuenzer scored off a header, nodding the ball past Swedish goalkeeper Caroline Joensson.
