LONDON: Michael Ballack, Freddie Bobic and Kevin Kuranyi scored as Germany beat Iceland 3-0 yesterday to win their qualifying group and advance to next year’s European Championship in Portugal.
The three-time World Cup and European champions went into the game in danger of being relegated to a risky playoff, but Rudi Voeller’s team won easily in Hamburg to knock Iceland out of contention.
