TOKYO: Formula-One BAR team boss David Richards said yesterday he had to dump former world champion driver Jacques Villeneuve to “change things” after years as also-rans since the team's creation in 1999.
He added Villeneuve would be replaced for the 2004 season by BAR test driver Takuma Sato, a protege of engine supplier Honda, in a move to further integrate the Japanese firm's F1 expertise and resources into the English outfit.
