ZHUHAI (China): SuperSports 600cc defending champion and current championship leader Toshiyuki Hamaguchi of Japan is bracing himself for stiff competition in the China leg of the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship to be held here at the Zhuhai International Circuit this weekend.
This will be the 33-year-old rider’s first race in the China circuit and the Japanese ace has been busy doing mental and physical preparations for the race.
“I made my debut in the championship last season, but the China leg was cancelled because the circuit was under renovation at the time. Unlike the Malaysian riders like Ahmad Zamani and Kuan Meng Heng, I have not had any experience on this track,” said Hamaguchi.
While Hamaguchi gears up for more intense racing in China, Australian debutant Cameron Donald has announced his intention to switch camps from team Yamaha Racing Malaysia to the China Macau Zong Shen Racing Team.
“It was an amicable switch. The China Macau Zong Shen Racing Team extended their invitation for me to join their team for the remainder of the season. As team Yamaha Racing Malaysia had no objections, I will be racing in Zong Shen colours in China ,” he said.
