WADA chief says non-payers may face anthem ban

MONTREAL: Nations who do not contribute to the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) funds could find their flags and anthems barred from the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens under proposals put forward on Tuesday.

WADA president Dick Pound, speaking after a two-day meeting, said the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) agency still had a tough time getting cash from countries to finance their activities. WADA’s annual budget is around US$20 million.
