ADELAIDE: His tennis career may have temporarily stalled this season, but it looks like former world number one Lleyton Hewitt of Australia is moving ahead full-steam as a junior real estate tycoon.
The 22-year-old Hewitt has been reported as the buyer in the largest residential sale ever concluded in his hometown of Adelaide.
Lleyton Place as tabloid newspapers call the US$2.1mil two-level property overlooking a lake, features five bedrooms, a cinema, bar, indoor pool and sauna.
One thing missing from the compact, but stylish crib: a tennis court.
The getaway retreat from tennis adds to Hewitts property collection in the South Australian city.
He also owns three adjoining blocks of land upon which he has yet to build, paying US$1.2mil for them.
The cost of the property portfolio wont damage Hewitts financial standing (US$14.5mil in prize money and around US$12mil in sponsorships). It also keeps him up to speed with girlfriend Kim Clijsters, who has been building a dream home in her native Belgium.
Among her perks as a tennis star: an appliance sponsor for the pad. dpa
