SKOPJE: Wayne Rooney became the youngest player to score a senior goal for England on Saturday when he equalised during the team's 2-1 Euro 2004 qualifying win over Macedonia.
The Everton striker, aged 17 years and 317 days, drove an 18-metre shot into the net after a knock-down by substitute Emile Heskey to make the score 1-1 after 53 minutes in the Macedonian capital.
