Roslinda sets new record, Firdaus earns spot to Vietnam

KUALA LUMPUR: Pole vaulter Roslinda Samsu broke the national record and triple jumper Mohamed Firdaus Salim made the cut for the Vietnam SEA Games on the final day of the national athletics championships at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil yesterday, capping a day of double joy for Kedah.

Roslinda cleared 3.91m to beat the old mark of 3.90m set by Jenny Drybough of New Zealand in 1998. Roslinda's feat was even better than the 2001 KL SEA Games record of 3.90m set by Indonesia's Ni Putu Desh Margawaty.
