SKOPJE: England battled back from a goal down to beat Macedonia 2-1 in a Euro 2004 qualifier yesterday thanks to goals by teenager Wayne Rooney and captain David Beckham.
The result kept England firmly in contention for top spot in Group Seven, lifting them one point above Turkey, who were expected to win away to Liechtenstein later yesterday.
