NEW HAVEN: Top seed Lindsay Davenport easily bounced wild card Jelena Dokic 6-2, 6-1 on Tuesday in the second round of the US$625,000 WTA hardcourt tournament here which is the final tune-up for next week's US Open.
A runner-up to Venus Williams each of the last three years here, Davenport advanced to a quarter-final meeting with the winner of yesterday's match between sixth seed Magdalena Maleeva of Bulgaria and Spain's Magui Serna.
