LONDON: Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson says former United midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron is a disgrace.
Veron, who moved this week to Chelsea, said he was not kept informed by Ferguson about the possibility of being sold to the London club.
Ferguson says that isnt true.
Seba knew all along what was happening, so to say I was two-faced about it is a disgrace, Ferguson told the Manchester Evening News.
I spoke to him a few days after we started pre-season training and explained that we had accepted a bid from Chelsea because I knew we would have an embarrassment of numbers in midfield.
At that stage, he shook my hand and everything was fine.
Ferguson said the initial deal fell through, with Chelsea declining to pay the £15 million (US$24.1 million) transfer fee. He said at that point Veron had to be persuaded he was still a Man United player.
Ferguson wasnt sincere with me, Veron said.
Two months ago a couple of clubs expressed an interest and he said I wasnt for sale. He gave me the impression I was wanted.
But when there was money on the table his conversation changed. Thats a hard one for me. AP
