Armstrong and Ullrich save energy for time trial decider

BORDEAUX: Lance Armstrong's day in the saddle for the 181km duration of the Tour de France 17th stage worked out perfectly yesterday.

The 31-year-old four-time Tour winner retained his 1:07 lead over main rival Jan Ullrich and used only the energy he had to ahead of tomorrow's 47km time trial where the yellow jersey could be won and lost.
