KUALA LUMPUR: With 500 athletes from 15 teams competing, it was simply shocking that only one national junior record was set when the dust settled at the end of the three-day National Junior Athletics Championships in Bukit Jalil on Saturday.
Pahang's Tan Song Hwa was the real star of the championships, which were held at the National Sports Council training track when she hurled the hammer to a new distance of 42.50m on the final day. Her effort erased the old mark of 38.52m set by Roseazlina Mustafa back in 1979.
