LIVERPOOL: Chief executive Rick Parry has defended Liverpool’s role in the controversial £5mil transfer of Harry Kewell from Leeds, denying that the club offered more for the Australian.
Leeds chairman John McKenzie hinted that Kewell and his agent Bernie Mandic benefited from the transfer deal by persuading Liverpool to reduce a £7mil offer allegedly agreed with Parry.
