KUALA LUMPUR: Kedah's Mohd Firdaus Salim (pic) will be out to break his own national junior triple jump record in a distance good enough to beat the SEA Games qualifying mark during the national junior athletics championships, which begin today at the National Sports Council (NSC) training track in Bukit Jalil here.
At the Kedah Open last month, the 18-year-old Firdaus came agonisingly close to making the team for the Games in Vietnam. He recorded a 15.34m jump and it fell one centimetre short of the qualifying mark of 15.35m.
