NUERBURGRING (Germany): Toyota are almost certain to retain Frenchman Olivier Panis and Brazilian Cristiano da Matta next season, according to team boss Ove Andersson.

“I would say it’s 95 percent certain,” he said at the European Grand Prix.

Panis, 37 in September, is the oldest driver in Formula One while Da Matta, the 2002 CART champion, is in his rookie season. Both have contracts for next year.

The team replaced both their drivers, Finland’s Mika Salo and Briton Allan McNish, after their debut season in 2002. Toyota are ninth out of 10 teams in the manufacturers’ standings with four points from eight races. – Reuters
