MILAN: Italian giants Roma have beefed up their defence package by welcoming Brazilian international Lucio from Bayer Leverkusen, Il Corriere della Sera reported on Thursday.Â
The transfer of the 25-year-old will yield the German side about 15 million euros (US$17.3mil) that Roma will pay over six years.Â
Lucio, who won the 2002 World Cup with Brazil, reportedly will earn 3 million euros (US$3.45mil) per season.Â
Spanish powerhouse Barcelona, meanwhile, have set their sights on some big names of Inter Milan and Juventus.Â
Inter reportedly received an offer of 35 million euros (US$40.2mil) for defender Fabio Cannavaro, the Italian national team captain, and for Uruguay's striker Alvaro Recoba.Â
The Spanish club approached also the Serie A title holders from Turin regarding French top striker David Trezeguet, but have not yet made any official offer. – dpaÂ
