MADRID: Lluis Bassat, the front runner in the Barcelona presidential race, has criticised rival Joan Laporta's bid to sign David Beckham, saying the Catalan club cannot afford to buy the England captain.
“AC Milan have said they can't afford to pay for him (Beckham) and they are in a much better financial situation than us,” Bassat was quoted as saying by sports daily Mundo Deportivo on Sunday.
